Lib Dem action on Sainsbury's car park

July 22, 2013 7:33 PM

After months of campaigning by Phil Knowles, the leader of the Liberal Democrat group on Harborough District Council, officers are to meet store bosses to review the condition of Sainsbury's car park and consider what needs to be done.

Residents and shoppers contacted Phil Knowles expressing concerns and urging that something be done. We can now confirm a significant step forward:

"The surface is in desperate need of attention in many areas. It has been highlighted as a cause of concern by motorists and pedestrians alike. It is rutted and littered with pot holes. Consideration must be given to putting things right.

Thursday 1 August has been set aside as the date for a meeting to agree the works that need to be carried out and, I hope, a timetable for them. I have been pushing the officers to get this matter on to the agenda and to get it sorted. Finally, with a meeting between Sainsbury's and HDC officers agreed, there seem to be signs of light at the end of the tunnel."
