first phase of Harborough's 21st century development on the St Luke's Hospital site will be opened to the public in January!
The keys were formally handed over by the builders this week. Commissioning, along with staff training, is under way and we are told that plans are being formulated by the PCT/NHS for a series of open days in the build up to the opening ceremony.
Lib Dem counillor Phil Knowles has been campaigning for over 20 years for improved medical/hospital facilities in the town and is widely acknowledged to have played a major role in securing NHS investment in the new minor procedure and endoscopy unit.
Now the unit has been handed over to the PCT Phil has had the opportunity to see the unit for himself:
"I am certain that as the community and colleagues have the opportunity to see the finished product they will be delighted. For my part, the only comment I will make is that I have had the privilege of a sneak preview and it is a first-class facility. I don't want to spoil the surprise and urge everyone to support the official opening programme and viewing days!"
