Concerns about alleged incomplete consultation, overlooking of property from play equipment and the actual site chosen...
Just some of the points raised at the site meeting on Symingtons Rec last Friday.
Harborough District Council officers, residents, a representative from East Midlands Housing Association and Lib Dem ward councillors Barbara Johnson and Phil Knowles gathered on the site to examine residents' concerns and try to solve the problems.
Speaking after the meeting, Barbara and Phil confirmed that an agreement had been reached with officers to install screening and to monitor any problems closely for the first three months after the equipment is officially opened. The Ward Councillors also said that they will be taking matters further:
"We are grateful that an agreement was reached and that if the residents are having problems with overlooking steps will be taken to reduce the height of the poles nearest to homes. But there are still questions to be answered: why did consultation seem to be curtailed and why was an alternative site that could have taken the equipment away from nearby homes not considered? We shall be taking up these issues with senior council officers."
A member of the local police was also invited but was unable to attend.
