Market Harborough's new hospital facilities are still on schedule. That's the message after the recent meeting between Health Trust Executives and local Liberal Democrats.
The Trust is now working hard to develop Harborough Hospital on the St Luke's site, with a clear understanding of the services called for by local residents in our recent local survey.
Speaking after the meeting, Lib Dem Chairman Phil Knowles and Councillor Sarah Hill thanked the Trust executives for their openness and honesty. They said:
"We have been assured that the Harborough Hospital is one of the highest priorities for the Trust and is on schedule. When we met the Trust a couple of months ago, they clearly took on board the comments about our worry over pitfalls on funding and any possible delays it could cause. They tell us that in order to minimise risk, they are investigating different potential funding routes.
"We have been assured that plans are still on track with the intention to publish the final details of Harborough's Hospital in December 2009, with a plan for a public meeting early in the New Year to make the formal presentation to the community.
"We also talked at length about the war memorial at the cottage hospital and have been assured that this is high on the list of local considerations. We will look to discuss this in more detail at our next meeting."
