As the debate about Harborough's future healthcare facilities rumbles on, residents across Harborough are set to receive a questionnaire asking what they would like to see provided. The questionnaire, entitled 'Tell Them What You Think', has been produced not by the Health Trust but by the town's Liberal Democrats.
"From comments we received from residents its clear that the consultation period needs to have something specific at its centre, a focus that will generate discussion and make the process easier," says local Lib Dem chair Phil Knowles.
Phil Knowles and Liberal Democrat councillors Sarah Hill and Eileen Roeber decided to produce the tick box questionnaire, which is to be delivered to hundreds of homes.
They say:
"Our questionnaire may not be perfect, but it gives residents a document upon which they way anway to express their wishes and views on a wide range of services from respite care to diagnostic investigation facilities, and from palliative care to 24-hour minor injury care. The survey also invites Residents to highlight other areas of service they would like to see included.
"We hope Residents will offer their views on the future uses of the Coventry Road site, in particular beneficial uses for the wider community. We would encourage people to take the time to tick as many boxes as they feel appropriate. Once returned the surveys will be collated and the information passed to the Trust.
"In the midst of yet another consultation the Trust offer no indication of financial commitment or clear statement of intent on the provision of long term facilities. They maintain the stance of wanting to hear what people want - we are intent on giving the public a voice."
If you have not yet received a questionnaire and would like to make your views known, please download a copy from the Download Area of this website - you will find the link in the lefthand column. Completed forms should be returned to the Freepost address given on the back.
